So you’re out of work and you’ve got some extra time on your hands… Fortunately for you, magazines like Make and ReadyMade offer plenty of cool do-it-yourself (DIY) projects and new hobbies to fill your time with. And you don’t even have to wait for new issues to come out - both magazines have a wealth of archived projects available for FREE on their websites!

ReadyMade Magazine (www.ReadyMade.com) is published bimonthly and focuses on DIY projects involving interior design, furniture making, home improvement, sewing, metalworking, woodworking and other disciplines. It also has increasingly focused on sustainable design, independent music and DIY culture. Most featured projects can be completed with everyday materials, such as household items.
Some recommended ReadyMade projects: Making your own soap, Building your own backyard mini-golf course or Turning an old speaker into a coffee table.

Make Magazine (www.MakeZine.com) is published quarterly and focuses on DIY projects involving computers, electronics, robotics, metalworking, woodworking and other disciplines. The magazine features easy to complex projects which can often be completed with cheap materials, including household items.
Some recommended Make projects: How to make a solar iPod/phone charger, Bottle cutting or Making an electric cigar box guitar.
